            history

History

In 1982, Dr Abraham Mass commenced practice at 257 Tucker Road in Ormond. The practice initially was called Tucker Road Medical Centre.

It grew over the years and employed a number of permanent staff, most notably Dr Melody Kotzman and Dr Anton Knieriemen.

In 1995, Dr Mass became very interested in Wholistic Medicine, and the medical centre was renamed Melbourne Wholistic Medicine, to reflect this change in philosophy and practice.

Dr Mass remains passionate about wholistic treatment, and it is the usual mode of treatment he uses for chronic medical illnesses. As mentioned this approach has been observed to lead to improved results and improved  patient wellbeing.

Important

Principles

The following listed principles are some guiding lights of treatment at Melbourne Wholistic Medicine.

Searching for the underlying cause of disease is preferable to treating the resulting symptoms alone.

It is imperative to treat each patient as a unique person, as well as  treating the disease

Where possible it is preferable to use lifestyle modification and complementary therapies

Preventing illness is far superior than waiting for established disease to treat

Harnessing the body's own inate healing abilities and strengthing the immune system are important aspects of treatment

Disease is seen as dysfunction of the body, and not just an isolated event

Patient paticipation is highly encouraged

The Partnership and relationship between doctor and patient is an important factor in the healing outcome
